My 5 with Dan Sodergren, Co-Founder of Your FLOCK The People Support Platform
Hey, I’m Dan Sodergren, co-founder of Your FLOCK - the people support platform.
Here are five resources that have changed how I think and how our team works.
The Eisenhower Matrix is a task management tool that helps you organise and prioritise tasks by urgency and importance into the following methods:
- Not important
- Important
- Urgent
- Not urgent
This allows you to divide your tasks into four boxes based on the tasks you'll do first; the tasks you'll schedule for later; tasks you'll delegate; tasks you'll delete.
You can use the method for everything from business planning to college workload management, to your dating life and your financial fitness.
Trello is the visual tool that empowers your team to manage any type of project, workflow, or task tracking.
Add files, checklists, or even automation and customise it all for how your team works best.
Your FLOCK uses it like an electronic Kanban board and then link it to our team and personal objectives. I even use it to monitor my time for each objective and monthly work patterns/amount too.
As a business-to-business HR tech startup that helps people be happier at work, we have to use LinkedIn.
The mission of LinkedIn is simple - connect the world's professionals to make them more productive and successful. To be honest I fell in love with the site after meeting Reid Hoffman many moons ago.
The site offers a free version and a paid one too. We use the Sales Navigator paid version which is really useful for me for customer relationship building at Your FLOCK. And of course we have our Your FLOCK company page there as well.
This seems like an obvious one. But to not mention where all our emails, documents, presentations and spreadsheets are all in one de-centralised place, in space, in the cloud would be doing Google a disservice.
It is greater than people think for remote working and hybrid teams. We use it all the time here at Your FLOCK as it is accessible by my whole team instantly, and links into apps like Typeform and Miro. Even their version of Zoom (Google Meet) is pretty cool too with its instant caption generator and transcribing feature.
ChatGPT has quickly garnered attention since Nov 2021 for its detailed responses and articulate answers across many domains of knowledge.
ChatGPT can do more than offer you a conversation. OpenAI has equipped it with the ability to correct grammar, summarise difficult text into simpler concepts, convert movie titles into emojis, create new ideas, and even fix bugs in Python code.
At the time of writing, there are 49 different tools to play around with. At YourFLOCK we use it to help with our blog writing and idea generation but in the future we will be working it into our website as a chatbot and training it up to become a HR tech expert.
Now hear me out. I know we are biassed, but I use our technology every week to become a better manager for our tiny team.
As Your FLOCK is a people support platform, powered by machine learning that works in team dynamics and is based on your individual values, I use it to help manage and support my team here at Your FLOCK.
As we work remotely and not in an office it's invaluable for me to get to know my colleagues more, and what’s important to them, and get the feedback I need from them based on their values so we can create a positive company culture together and be happier and more productive at work.
