What we're after
Expertise: You don’t have to be well known to be a contributor, but you must have an understanding about the subject you’re writing about.
Evidence: It’s not enough to know your subject — you have to prove it to the reader. Referring to supporting research is one good way to do this; describing relevant examples is another. If you have interesting data, share it with us and utilise it.
Originality: There are countless websites across the globe offering insight into the world of innovation, entrepreneurship, and scaleups - so we want the Growth Platform to stand out. We’ll be looking for a unique argument or insight. We’ll also be looking at how well it builds on what we’ve already published and whether it might inform or delight the GP audience specifically.
Usefulness: GP readers come to learn how they and their organisations can change the way they actually do things - for the better. If you can explain your thinking so that the reader understands how to apply it in a real situation, that will make it more powerful.
Writing that’s persuasive and a pleasure to read: GP readers are driven, curious, but incredibly busy. If you don’t capture their interest right away, they will move on to something else.
What we're NOT after
Coverage of big, breaking news stories: All prominent news stories are well-covered by our staff writers.
Promotional or sponsored posts: Your post should not read like a press release, a classified ad, or appear lopsided. You should also not use your post as a recruiting tool. You should always disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
Posts that use overly-technical language or terms only industry insiders would know.
Posts that infringe upon another person’s intellectual property: This includes but is not limited to trade secrets, trademarks and copyrights of any type.
